The Chicago Federation of Labor (CFL) is the umbrella organization for Chicago and Cook County’s labor unions. With our 300 affiliate unions, we fight every day to give workers the voice, respect, and dignity they deserve in the workplace. Organizing is the backbone of the labor movement, and the CFL Organize initiative is a fundamental strategy to grow union membership for the long-term.
Our strength as a labor movement comes from the unity and solidarity of our affiliated organizations and their members. Together we defend a middle class of hard-working women and men, pursue aggressive legislative and political strategies, and help build a highly-skilled, sought-after workforce in the changing economy of the 21st Century.
We fight an uphill battle to save jobs, ensure fairness for workers, and promote justice in the workplace. Thanks to the leadership of the CFL Executive Board and the commitment of our affiliated local unions, we can make a difference for working people in Chicago and throughout Cook County.
